My Collection – Cleansers PART 1

I’ve been wracking my brains on how to go about talking about my personal collection of products, a lot of ‘bloggers’ tend to do it with their AM/PM routines, but I switch it up so often it’ll just give everyone a headache. Also, as you can see, I don’t just have 1 of each step of a routine (much to my banks despair). So I thought every week I would go through the products I have for each step of an average routine.

First step of a routine AM and PM is cleanser, so we’ll start with that. This is also the routine step I have the most products of, so I have split this section into 2 parts, so you’re not scrolling like a mad man, and drags it out a bit longer doesn’t it. Don’t expect so many products included in my other steps though.
Let’s crack on.

Jordan Samuel Skin – The After Show Treatment Cleanser

As you can see, this cleanser is in the limited addition Caroline Hiron’s yellow. This is because it came in the spring kit 1. Prior to getting hold of this, I heard constant raves about it.

Jordan Samuel is a renowned skin therapist with his products flying off the shelves and used by those highest in the industry. Samuels had an 11 year ballet career before creating his skincare line, he wanted something for stage makeup that actually works, so took the task into his own hands. (I’m guessing this is where the inspiration for ‘after show’ came from).

So the first time I used this was for an AM cleanse, and I wasn’t in love. However, I quickly came to the realisation that this gel to oil formula is designed to grip onto make up and SPF for a first cleanse, to really get to the surface of the skin (which this is amazing for). My AM cleanse never gets removed with a flannel, just emulsified/massaged and washed away.
In my opinion, this cleanser should be used with a washcloth to aid everything off your face during a PM routine.
If just rinsed with water, I feel almost a film/residue left over, which I don’t like, but if it works for you then fine.

I have been converted to a liker of this product, but won’t be repurchasing. I will definitely be buying other products from the line, due to word of mouth.

Garnier – Rose Soothing Cleansing Milk

From what I can see on Garnier’s website, they have renamed and repackaged this slightly. See below.

Not my image

This is actually one of my faves from the list. Perfect for a second cleanse if you’ve gone in with an active balm or oil first, really soothes and plumps the skin. Also as an AM cleanse, being rose water, it really softens the skin ready for the routine ahead.
It spreads really well around the skin, feels lightweight and cool when massaged.
The only ”down side” of this is that it isn’t great on taking make up off, but as I touched on straight away, this is a second cleanse kind of product, which I don’t see anything wrong with.

Dermalogica – PreCleanse

Dermalogica is a brand I’ll always have a soft spot for. I worked with their products for 2 years whilst studying Beauty Therapy, and the pre cleanse was a product I was always excited to use on clients.

‘Pre cleanse’ it’s in the name, the cleanse before the cleanse, I like this. As it enforces the double cleanse regime which is vital for clean skin.
Say for example you have some lovely serums and moisturisers that you’ve put your hard earned money towards buying, you might as well have left it in your pocket. If your skin doesn’t have a properly clean surface for your lotions and potions, what’s the point? BLOODY DOUBLE CLEANSE.

This oil based cleanser does have a strong smell, which I think derives from the fruit/seed oils included in the ingredients, but doesn’t have any artificial fragrances/colours involved.

This can emulsify into a milky, almost frothy substance, perfect for a facial massage as well as make up/spf remover.

Lacura – Hot Cloth Cleanser & Face Wash Gel

Controversiaaaal.

Right, I can understand peoples upset with Lacura, quite evident robbery of branded packaging, ‘dupes’ if you will. But the prices are shockingly good if you’re on an extreme budget. Understandable if you’re morally against this brand but I wouldn’t judge those who aren’t.

I’m not wowed by these cleansers, but they’re not completely awful.
The Hot Cloth Cleanser (taken ‘inspiration’ from Liz Earl’s Hot Cloth Cleanser) is very rich, thick and creamy. It comes with a muslin cloth, which as I’ve said on previous posts, I don’t use.
Not very strong in smell, good for massage. Skin feels soft after use. Slightly too rich for my AM cleanse personally. Would recommend for those on an extreme budget.
Refreshing Face Wash Pretty sure this is a ‘Simple’ dupe. My least favourite out of the bunch. Ok in a rush of a morning, but skin doesn’t feel great afterwards. Wouldn’t recommend but it does work for some.
